Google Photos changes its design and hides a widely used function

Google Photos is undergoing a major change in the design of its app that will make one of the most popular elements disappear forever. The platform, specifically (and as revealed 9to5Google), is removing the ‘Memories’ tab.

This has been present in Google Photos for years, and serves to remember special moments. The application, in fact, gathers images and videos of what it detects an important event, such as a birthday, a party, an excursion or a trip, and from this tab it allows quick access to them.

Now, with the latest update, Google Photos will show three tabs in the bottom navigation bar. On the one hand, ‘Photos’, where all the photos stored in the app are displayed. The ‘Collections’ tab is also maintained, where albums, sites and more appear. And finally, the ‘Search’ tab.

The memories, however, have not disappeared.; just the button that allowed access to them. Google, however, has changed the name of the feature. It is now called ‘Moments’, and is located within the ‘Collections’ section. It also has a new interface that shows the different events. Users can also add details or relevant information, as well as add photos, save them, or add users so they can access those images and videos.

This change will come in the coming weeks to all users through an update of the app that will be deployed in both the iOS and Android versions.

Google Photos, however, maintains the function that allows you to view images and videos captured over time through an option located in the ‘Photos’ section and that is very reminiscent of Instagram stories. The Google images app also has other additional functions that considerably improve the experience when viewing images or memories.
