Microsoft is preparing A redesign of the Windows 11 start menu which will resolve one of the most frequent complaints of its users. Almost four years after its launch, the operating system still does not convince many, who prefer to stay in Windows 10. The new design presents a unified and displable interface which fuses the anchored applications, the source of recommendations and the list of “all applications” in a single continuous view. This eliminates the need to navigate the different sections of the user interface, a common usability problem mentioned by users that migrate from Windows 10.
All anchored applications now appear on the movable list, and users can navigate all applications installed simply moving down, thus eliminating the button dedicated to “all applications”. In addition, the anchored section admits up to eight applications per row and more than three rows, a remarkable increase with respect to the anterior limit.
One of the most requested functions is finally being implemented. Microsoft has listened to users, and Now it is possible to completely deactivate the “recommended” section. This source, which highlights recent files and applications, has generated controversy since the launch of Windows 11. Users can now eliminate it through the starting menu configuration, releasing space exclusively for anchored content.
Users can Customize even more the experience by selecting between the list and category views in the “all applications” section. This offers more detailed customization of the user interface according to their preferences. There is also a new option for Show all predetermined anchored applicationsavoiding the additional step of expanding the view every time.
According to Phantomofearththe updated start menu is now available for tests in the last preliminary compilations 24h2 of Windows 11, although it must be activated separately. To enable the redesign manually, users need to download the ViveTool tool and activate the identifiers of specific features through the system symbol.
The process is simple and just requires following these steps:
- Download Vivetool from github and decompresses files in an easy -to -reach folder (for example C \ Vivetoool)
- Access the folder and type Cmd to execute the system symbol as administrator within that location. Another way to do it is to click on the start menu, write Cmd and choose to execute the system symbol as administrator and then navigate to the folder (for example CD: C: \ ViveTool)
