Microsoft has launched an important update for Word which expands its documents summary capabilities. The technological giant announced improvements in Copilot AI, which now allows you to generate summaries for documents of up to 3,000 pages. The advance is remarkable if the previous limit is considered to be just 300 pages.
In A publication of the Tech Community blog From Microsoft, Tanja Petrovic and Stéphanie Visser, product managers in the Word team, announced that the application It is already able to summarize documents with hundreds or thousands of pages. Previously, Copilot’s summary was limited to a standard format of key points that, although it was useful for many, was insufficient for complex or extensive documents.
Microsoft has addressed this limitation by introducing three different summary lengths. Users can opt for a brief general description that condenses the document in a short paragraph, a standard summary that highlights the key points or a detailed summary that offers a more complete breakdown of the content. The latter is especially useful for those who work with dense reports, research work or legal documents, where nuances and details are important.
How to use Copilot AI to summarize documents in Word
To access the new summary options within Word, Simply open co -pilot and dictate an instruction as “summarize this document”. Once the AI processes the text, an drop -down menu allows to alternate between different summary lengths. If there is already a summary in a document, when expanding it with the “See more” button, additional details are shown or can be changed to a different format.
The implementation It is already underway for Microsoft 365 subscribers. The updated function is now available on Word for the web and also in desktop applications. Windows users with Word version 2503 (Compilation 18623.20042) or posterior, and Mac with version 16.96 (Compilation 25031738) or later, should see the available option.
