To use an Android mobile at full capacity it is necessary set it up with a Google account. In Spain this is not usually a big requirement since Gmail is the most used email service. In addition, accounts with their own domains can be used if they are integrated into Google WorkSpace, so we won’t have to use an @gmail account if we don’t want to.
What many people don’t know is that, when you set up an email account, in addition to providing certain information for the profile, you can put an avatar image. What this does is personalize it and, if we have multiple accounts, it allows you to jump from one to another easily. It is especially useful if the device is used by several people, as is the case with tablets.
It is not mandatory, but if we have three accounts, all from the same person, they will only be differentiated by the background color, since the initial letter will be the same. Besides, It is a process that only has to be done once on the Google profile and, once that is done, it will be displayed in Google Photos, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive and the rest of the company’s applications.
To be able to change the avatar photo for one of ours only We must have it downloaded to our smartphone’s memory or have it hosted on Google Photos. Once located, you must follow these simple steps:
- We open the Settings of the phone.
- We select the option Google.
- We click on the text with our name.
- After opening the profile on a floating screen, click on the initial with a colored background.
- On the screen that appears we select Change by clicking on the button in the lower left corner.
- Now we select one of the predefined images or one in Google Photos or in the phone’s memory.
- We click on next after cutting it and rotating it if necessary.

If we have several accounts we can do the same in each of them to put a different image and be able to easily identify them. This new image will appear in all Google account services since they are linked to the same profile.
Even we can see the previous profile images in the event that we had put one and select it again. You just have to click on the three dots icon on the screen where the Change Button appears with the pencil icon.
