If there is a company that has a set of essential applications on Android, it is Google. The company offers incredibly interesting experiences through apps such as YouTube, Google Docs, Google Keep and even Gmail, without forgetting Google Maps, which is one of the most important that the American manufacturer has.
It’s a platform that’s not only incredibly useful for finding new and interesting places near you, but it can also tell you the quickest—or least polluting—route to get anywhere. This makes combining it with the mobile GPScan be incredibly useful.
The company also has a feature that many users may like: the timeline, formerly called location history. Basically, it is a private record of the places the user has been while you had the location activated, and it can be interesting to see for a vacation or an excursion.
However, it must be taken into account that this also means letting your mobile phone know about all these routes every time you take them. Now this chronology is changing, and Google is going to delete all your data this coming year 2025so if you do not want to lose the information stored for years, some actions will have to be carried out.
This change, among other things, will make each smartphone have its own timeline, making it more private and preventing data from being edited or deleted from another device. Besides, this new timeline feature won’t work on Android Goso if you have one of these basic mobile phones, you will not have access to it.
The chronology will no longer be accessible from the computer, and Google has sent an email to users explaining that, if they do not want to lose all the information stored in this section, they will have to go to the Chronology section, clicking on the photo of profile on Google Maps. There, you will have to disable automatic deletion and activate the activity backup.
The deletion date is May 25, 2025, so there is still time, but the most sensible thing to do to avoid losing this history would be to make the transfer as soon as possible. In this way, it will be saved, but only on the mobile phone from which you are doing it, so it can only be consulted from this device, and when changing to another mobile phone it will be necessary to include it in the backup copy when transferring the data.
