This is your special new filter for your video calls

WhatsApp, after the continuous developments it is currently carrying out, has given itself a break with some new features dedicated to the celebration of the New Year and the next few days that will be full of all kinds of conversations preparing for that special night.

Just like Instagram, which three days ago announced the arrival of six functions to celebrate in the best possible way one of the most special dates of the year, the most installed chat app in Spain has done today three new experiences available with which to encourage the conversations that are generated through individual and group chats.

These new functions will be temporary from today December 20th to January 3rdand range from effects on calls to new stickers that will come ideally to make chats more visual than is usually the norm.

WhatsApp has announced these new features for Spain that will also make let video calls be the protagonists and that from today you can get excited about those plans that are being prepared. They are these three:

• Effects on calls: Video calls during the holidays will be numerous and WhatsApp wants to make them even more special with a festive background on Christmas Eve, a filter or an effect to celebrate the beginning of the new year.
• Animated reactions: There is nothing simpler than using a reaction to express an emotion and WhatsApp is going to impregnate five emojis with a confetti animation for both the one who sends it and the one who receives it.
• New stickers: and of course, a pack of stickers with which to brighten up the congratulatory chats that from the first minute of New Year’s will begin to sprinkle the chats of millions of people in Spain.

To access these new functions you simply have to go to the Google Play Store on Android to update the app to the latest version or in the App Store for iPhones.

In the image shared by WhatsApp you can see the new functions with the different stickers and how the video call screen changes completely with an illustration in which the year 2025 appears and the streaming of the contact’s front camera. A very special filter to animate video calls that occur in the first minutes of 2025.

A few days in which the most used apps to communicate with friends or family will be full of new temporary functions with which to change the wallpaper in the video call, add a Christmas sticker or cover the chat with confetti.
